The
only
serious objection I
to the proposed alteration in the line of
wall is the increased depth of the foundations. The maximum depth below low water level to the hard bottom is 65
and
65 feet,
for a length of about 1100,
feet the depth exceeds 54 feet. But taking into consideration the fact that in the reclamation now

to the hard bottom is 601 feet (only four feet less than that met with on the line suggested by Six John Coode) and that other reclamation; have, I understand, been successfully completed in depths but little inferior to the above, it appears to me that the increased.. depth is not invikelf a sufficient, avon for condemuing the proposed alteration. Having now obtained sufficient data on which to base a sound conclusion the main

the advantages which would undoubtedly
accrue
· from the large additional area of land which would be reclaimed by the modified live of wall sufficient to outweigh the drawbacks of the increased cost, and the lose of time which would result
of time. adoption of the line of wall suggested by Sir John Coode.
